Finding the Energy to Thrive - international best-selling book by Katie Dean

Option 2: My International-Best-Selling Book

Published in 2025, Finding the Energy to Thrive: Navigating the Maze of Life and Embracing Your Path to Wholeness, is the story of my CFS recovery and all the lessons I learned along the way.

I wrote this with the intention of creating a map out of the “Energy Maze”. It is accompanied by a journal that is designed to help you create the map that you need: Each of us is an individual with our own unique path to CFS Recovery. So, rather than a “one-size-fits-all” approach, this will help you tailor your journey so you end up saving time and money.

“I really enjoyed reading this book. Katie has captured many aspects of the CFS experience and created a model to help guide and identify where a reader could be within their own experience of the illness. It then charts multiple ways that they can move through it with more hope and understanding.

There are some helpful insights to do with early life development and the effect this has on the nervous system. This includes discussion of the illness being precipitated by viral infections, however the component about a maladaptive nervous response initiating chronic fatigue-based symptoms was a novel idea to me. This has drawn on a creative synthesis of current research on developmental trauma.

The author is very considerate and emphasises that this is an automatic process, so it should not necessitate any unreasonable judgement even though it inevitably does, both from ourselves and others. Living with this illness is often an overwhelming and lifechanging process, but reading this book will definitely make it that bit easier for you wherever you happen to be in the ‘CFS maze’.“

“Thank you for holding your lovely workshop on Friday. It was great to take some time out for me, in what was a particularly busy week. It felt indulgent to do this but that was a great part of the pleasure too. I really enjoyed using the cards to dictate to me which colours I should use, giving me little challenges to create pleasing designs even with colours I wouldn’t naturally choose. I really also enjoyed learning about what the colours represent, beyond what we might obviously think of. I felt very relaxed after the workshop and will definitely be colouring again!”
